Bird of prey swoops in frame as Nangwarry resident tests drone

PERFECT PREY: While testing his recently purchased drone, Nangwarry resident Deon Tully was surprised to watch a hawk attack the device while reviewing footage after his adventure.

SOARING at great speed, Nangwarry resident Deon Tully accidentally captured the perfect image of a hawk in flight when it swooped on his drone recently.

Mr Tully had trekked down Seven Sisters Road on Tuesday to test out his new Christmas present.

“Down the road there is a dam and I thought it was a great open space to take some photographs,” he said.

“It was somewhere I was not going to hit anyone on the head with it.”

However, Mr Tully was surprised when he came home to review the drone footage, only to witness the bird fly directly at the device.

“I did see a glimpse of something at the time, but I thought it was just a sparrow,” he said.

“It was quite a surprise when I saw it was a hawk.

“I was lucky it did not grab the drone.”

Mr Tully said he would continue to capture the South East’s natural beauty using his drone despite the unusual occurrence.
