PHOTOGRAPHS celebrating regional diversity are set to adorn the walls of thousands of homes and offices thanks to the 2019 Wattle Range community calendar.

The calendar features images from each photographer who entered last year’s Wattle Range photographic exhibition, as well as the winning entries from each category.

Mayoral youth award winner Lily Francis, 11, said she felt proud and excited her photograph would be displayed in homes across the Wattle Range and beyond.

She has entered the competition for three years and last year won her first major prize with her photograph Playground Fun.

The photograph serves as the main image for the month of November and was taken at the Domain Playground in Millicent.

“I enjoy all different types of photography, but probably scenery the most,” Lily said.

“I also enjoy the days where I go out with my family to check out regional areas and take photographs.”

Wattle Range Council libraries and cultural services manager Janice Nitschke said it had been fantastic to watch Lily grow and develop as a photographer over the years she has entered
the competition.

“It has been interesting to watch Lily’s development,” she said.

TYou can see how she’s really grown as a photographer and how keen she is on photography and art.”

Around 5000 calendars have been distributed to local council offices and the library and are free to the public.

A new category will be introduced as part of this year’s competition, which will capture the town’s Swimming Lake.

The Swimming Lake category will join 10 others including business and industry, black and white, sport and leisure, landscape, nature, panoramic and people and or portrait with an emphasis on people at work or play, Lake McIntyre, photographers under the age of 18 and the Mayoral award for best local photographer deemed to be an amateur.
