THE ever-popular Coastal Connections program will not run this summer due to a lack of government funding.

For several years, locals and visitors had flocked to Beachport, Southend and other coastal locations to enjoy Natural Resources South East’s Coastal Connections program.

Last summer, over 1000 people attended an array of activities from night walks and snorkelling to fishing and guided bird walks.

There were 58 activities on offer along the coast, including rockpool rambles, fossil safaris, creatures of the night and bush tucker tours.

Coastal Connections was funded by the Federal Government via the Limestone Coast Local Government Association and delivered by Natural Resources South East.

Other supporters of Coastal Connections included Friends of Shorebirds SE, Birds SE, each of the four coastal councils, Nature Glenelg Trust and some of the region’s veterinary clinics.
