Unique treats on city’s doorstep

RELAXATION: New South Wales resident Brendan Maynard has been busy exploring the South East coastline while on his two week trip exploring the Limestone Coast.

A LOVE of food and wine has drawn one New South Wales residents to the Limestone Coast as the region experiences a population swell thanks to the summer holiday period.

Brendan Maynard said he made the trek specifically to the region in search of experiences in Penola, Mount Gambier and coastal towns such as Robe.

“I have so far enjoyed the food, places and tourist sites,” Mr Maynard said.

“I personally knew about Penola as I come from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Boorowa, New South Wales.”

Previously recommended by friends, Mr Maynard said he wanted to get to know the area and “see what it is all about.”

“It is school holidays so I thought I would come down and visit the area.

“The sites are amazing here and the Blue Lake is something I have never seen before in my life.”

Warrnambool family Maureen, Jim, Simone and Nicole Collins visit the region every Christmas for 10 days.

“We have been coming back regularly throughout the school holidays for five years now,” Maureen said.

“We all think the sites within Mount Gambier are something different and are interesting.”

Nicole said her husband enjoys running around the Blue Lake when he visits.

“He tries to keep himself fit while we are on holidays,” she said.

The family plans to venture the Glenelg Shire region while on their holiday including a visit to Nelson.

HAPPY CAMPERS: Maureen, Simone and Jim Collins enjoy their stay at the Kalganyi Holiday Park while on their 10-day trip in Mount Gambier with family.
