Beachport continues unique summer tradition

SUMMER FUN: The annual duck race at the Beachport Salt Lake/Pool of Siloam is one of the seaside social highlights on the calendar.

A POPULAR summertime tradition will continue at the Beachport Salt Lake tomorrow.

Crowds will be drawn to the 16th annual duck race from 3pm.

Numbered plastic ducks will be sold at the Beachport street market in Railway Terrace on the morning and at various venues in the town.

Last minute ducks can be purchased at the Salt Lake before the race starts.

The race is organised by the Beachport District Development Association in conjunction with the Beachport and Rivoli Bay Lions Club.

The funds raised are used for Beachport community projects.

An event spokesperson said the duck race was a great family fun event.

“It is a unique occasion which creates quite a spectacle with children dashing into the lake at the end of the race to capture a duck as a take home souvenir.”
