Positive event response for New Years Eve celebrations

NEW BEGINNINGS: The New Year’s Eve celebrations held at Vanisttart Park on Monday were absorbed for young Mount Gambier resident Donovan Parsons, who enjoyed his first New Year’s Eve party with his family at the event. Picture: MOLLY TAYLOR

YOUNG Mount Gambier resident Donovan Parsons participated in his first New Year’s Eve party on Monday at the Vansittart Park celebrations.

Mother Roxanne Deanfield said the event was “well set-up and welcoming”.

“Donovan was too young last year to actually celebrate, so it is great to take him to something like this,” she said.

“I have two other kids and they have really enjoyed the interactive activities on offer.

“They have been running around and have had a blast.”

Ms Deanfield hopes community members will rally to form a new committee for the event.

“I would like to come back next year so hopefully a new committee is formed,” she said.

“The prices are very affordable, as soon as you walk through the gate all the activities are free for the children.

“The event runs very smoothly as it is and I do not think the location or anything needs to change.”
