MILLICENT police station has a new sergeant following the recent transfer of Derek Long from Mount Gambier.
A vacancy arose following the promotion in October of serving officer Rick Errington from sergeant to senior sergeant first class.
He now has oversight of the Millicent, Penola, Beachport, Kalangadoo, Robe and Kingston stations in succession to Peter Brown who retired mid-year.
Sgt Long has served in this region for over 20 years and is a former officer-in-charge of Kalangadoo Police.
Meanwhile, the Millicent CIB has recently closed and the detective is now based in Mount Gambier.
Millicent has had at least one plainclothes officer since 1974.
