WATTLE Range residents have united to help spread the festive cheer and put a smile on the faces of local people in need as part of the Millicent Combined Churches Christmas Appeal.
Already the appeal has received donations of non-perishable food, money and toys, which will be used to make up hampers and distributed to disadvantaged families across Millicent.
Tantanoola Primary School and the Tantanoola Uniting Church members are among those who have dug deep in support of the appeal, recently donating numerous bags filled with non-perishable food.
Appeal convener Paulie Watts said the committee was thankful for the Tantanoola community’s support.
“It is truly outstanding for such a small community to show such generosity,” she said.
“We are really appreciative of their donations and it will definitely uplift the spirits of local families in need this festive season.
“Without the community’s help, we would not be able to do this and we are very grateful for everyone’s kindness.”
The appeal has been held for over two decades and raised thousands of dollars to provide hampers and toys.
It has also sourced donations from organisations, companies and individuals.
Members of various local churches gather together at the Millicent Salvation Army Citadel to prepare the hampers.
