Power in hands of voters

The proposed design would retain the existing outdoor 50 metre pool and grassed areas, with a new 25 metre indoor pool among the planned features.

VOTERS will remain anonymous in the elector survey which will determine the fate of the proposed $39.1m community recreation hub.

Returned voting slips will be mechanically processed by market research company Marketing Solutions.

The company has been appointed to conduct the postal survey independently to ensure an anonymous and accurate result.

Voting packs will include a “yes” or “no” voting slip and a return envelope.

The survey is currently being distributed and will close on December 21.

The council expects to receive the results from Marketing Solutions by mid-January.

If a simple majority votes “yes”, council will submit a full business case to the Federal Government by January 24 and continue to pursue the project.

If a simple majority vote of “no” is recorded, the project will not go ahead and the council will reject $15m in federal funds allocated specifically for the project.
