Swimmers make a splash at Nangwarry

CELEBRATION: The Nangwarry Pool hosted its official opening day over the weekend with Save the Nangwarry Pool Committee members celebrating the event.

NANGWARRY Pool hosted its official launch party over the weekend with around 200 people enjoying the renovated facility.

The grand opening event capped off a hard-fought two year community campaign to keep the town asset afloat after it was earmarked for demolition.

The Save the Nangwarry Pool Committee advocated to have the site reopened, which culminated in a full refurbishment supported by Wattle Range Council.

Although the pool opened on November 1, Saturday’s event was the big celebration of the community’s hard work.
Committee member Florence Thomson said she was pleased with the community’s support.

“I cannot believe how many people came out to the opening,” she said.

“It shows how important it is – we have done a lot of hard work to get here and it’s all worth it.

“I just hope numbers keep up and people keep coming back over summer.”

The pool will open on days forecast 20 degrees or higher and is free to use from 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and 1pm to 6pm on weekends and holidays.
