THE STAFF at Millicent’s popular sandwich hub joined Subway restaurants around Australia to fight food insecurity in celebration of World Sandwich Day last week.

Members of the community were encouraged to join the largest fundraising event of the year on Friday, the Subway Live Feed.

In partnership with leading food relief organisation, Foodbank every guest who visited Subway across the Limestone Coast regions and purchases a sub, salad or wrap on Friday received one for free.

In addition, Subway donated the cost of a meal through Foodbank to those seeking hunger relief.

Starting out as a fun way to celebrate the humble sandwich last year, World Sandwich Day has become a key date in the Subway calendar, rallying Australians’ love for sandwiches to support a positive cause.

In 2017 on World Sandwich Day, 13m meals were donated globally and 280,000 meals were donated in Australia alone.

Each donation was captured on the Subway Live Feed digital tracker.
