City street alive with walking dead

UNDEAD: Event organisers Kylie Bamford and Sharmaine Fogarty prepare for the walk to the Cave Gardens.

COMMERCIAL Street was crawling with the undead over the weekend for the ninth annual Mount Gambier Zombie Walk.

The group gathered at Vansittart Park and walked together to the Cave Gardens, scaring passers by along the way.

SPOOKY: Bronte Ellard and Amity Pearson donned their creepiest looks for the event.

There was an onsite face painter to help people put their scariest faces forward and prizes for best dressed men, women and children.

Although weather was not on their side, organisers Kylie Bamford and Sharmaine Fogarty were still pleased with the turn out.

“We did not have the attendance we have seen in years before, but we are still so happy with how the event went,” Ms Bamford said.

“I think it’s so important to raise money for local causes and we were more than happy to be donating this year to the Riding for the Disabled Association in Mount Gambier.”

GHOULISH: Karl Dohnt gets into the spirit of the event in his creepy costume.

The event has previously raised funds for community groups such as the South East Animal Welfare League and Sunset Kitchen.

Ms Bamford said she was excited about the future of the event and hoped the community would continue to rally behind the organisers.

“It’s a bit of fun and we raise money for great causes,” she said.

“I’m already excited for next year to see what people can come up with.”
