Mount Gambier Prison Construction firm locks down state accolade

AWARD-WINNING WORK: Mossop Constructions + Interiors was recognised for innovation in work health and safety in 2015 thanks to its Mount Gambier Prison accommodation project.

A CONSTRUCTION firm which recently established its first regional office in Mount Gambier has been named South Australia’s top commercial builder.

Mossop Constructions + Interiors was lauded at the Master Builders Association of South Australia 2018 Building Excellence Awards, with its third commercial builder-of-the-year accolade coming just months after opening its Blackwood Street premises.

The Mount Gambier location has boosted its workload across the Limestone Coast and Victoria, having already played a key role in the award-winning Mount Gambier prison accommodation project and the Portland library refurbishment.

Meeting the extra demand is regional manager Craig Williams, working alongside fellow locals who bring several years of combined experience and expertise to the company.

The tight-knit team complements Mossop Construction + Interiors’ proud family history, established by brothers Neil, Ray and John Mossop in 1979.

Mossop’s vision and values are to provide the industry with a hardworking, fair and reasonable construction contractor to deliver the highest quality project outcomes.

It is that ethos which has helped it secure the commercial builder-of-the-year award in 2012, 2015 and now 2018.

The Mossop team was also awarded the 2018 SA Training Awards’ Industry Collaboration Award for the U-Turn Construction Pathways Program run within the Adelaide Women’s Prison refurbishment project.

Mossop Construction + Interiors together with the South Australian Department of Correctional Services, Totalspace Design and TAFE SA worked collaboratively to offer the program which gives female prisoners the opportunity to gain skills and experience on a real construction site working alongside professional contractors while receiving industry accredited training.

With three generations of the Mossop family now working in the business, today Mossop employs over 165 staff and proudly provides jobs to hundreds more local subcontractors and suppliers.

The firm continues to give back to the South East community through sponsorship of local sporting and community groups.
