GRANT High School Year 11 student Charlotte Foote has been awarded one of the prestigious 2018 Pierre de Coubertin Awards.

Charlotte was selected from 1600 nominees and was one of only 34 students who received the award, named after the founder of the modern Olympic Games.

The annual Pierre de Coubertin Award recognises students who demonstrate academic excellence and sporting prowess while exemplifying the Olympic values.

Nominees must play an Olympic sport and participate actively in the school’s physical education program with a consistently positive attitude.

To qualify, nominees must have represented the school in at least two competitive sports.

Charlotte was invited to attend an Olympic Academy Day at the South Australian Sports Institute last week, where she was presented with her award by husband and wife Olympian race walking duo Jared and Claire Tallent.

Charlotte toured the state-of-the-art facilities and talked to the Tallents about their Olympic journey.

The Academy Day was a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about leadership, goal setting and resilience from two of South Australia’s Olympic heroes.
