Country musicians hit stage

TOP TUNES: Dave Prior will perform at the Millicent and District Community Club on Saturday.

A WARM welcome to visiting entertainers John O’Dea and Dave Prior will be extended at the Millicent and District Community Club on Saturday night.

They will take to the stage at 8pm and are sure to delight country music fans.

There will also be plenty of laughs at the show.

With six original albums to his credit, John is a singer-songwriter with a wealth of material to draw on.

He is a natural performer, releasing his first album of original songs in 2004.

Since then the now-retired farmer makes his living teaching music to students, entertaining tourists and performing from his home base of Orroroo to audiences in all parts of Australia.

John is a crowd favourite at the Mildura Country Music Festival and a familiar face at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“My performances consist of songs I wrote and songs I wish I wrote,” John says.

He is always taking his audiences on a journey in life and music with his own songs and classic songs that shaped his journey.

John is looking forward to sharing the songs from his Happy Days album at Millicent.

Meanwhile, Dave is a well-known comedy entertainer who also sings country songs.

He has been in the industry for years and performed in France, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, as well as major festivals and clubs throughout Australia.

Originally from the bush west of Alice Springs, Dave’s show includes a healthy dose of hilarious Australiana and political and social observations.

After a long and successful career in radio, Dave embarked on the country music scene, releasing four straight country albums and four comedy albums.

He has been a regular in Tamworth at the Longyard Hotel with the bush poets, Graham Roger’s show, and opened for Adam Harvey at the West’s Leagues club for the past five years.

Dave also performs a Merle Haggard tribute show and appears at various festivals throughout Australia and is well known on the club scene.
