Lotto winner in Mount Gambier

LUCKY WINNER: A Mount Gambier resident is ready to jet off to Thailand for a holiday after winning the division one prize in the Wednesday X Lotto draw.

A MOUNT Gambier local has his eye on a trip to Thailand after discovering he had won the guaranteed $1,000,000 division one prize in the Wednesday X Lotto draw 3765 drawn on Wednesday night.

The happy winner was one of two division one winning entries nationally, one each from South Australia and Queensland, with each winner becoming overnight millionaires.

As well as winning the coveted top prize, the winner’s System-10 marked entry also won division two six times, division three 18 times, division four 90 times and division five 60 times, bolstering his total prize to $1,036,264.30.

When a SA Lotteries official spoke to the winner to confirm the win, he revealed he had discovered the win the previous night.

“I checked the numbers last night, but this morning I went to the newsagency to get the results slip to double check again,” he said.

“I was worried I was getting my hopes up and I was one number short or something but thank goodness that wasn’t the case.

“I sometimes go into syndicates with the newsagency and I’ve actually had five numbers four times, so I’ve been hoping I can just get that extra number sometime.”

When asked how the happy winner chose his marked numbers he revealed he picked them at random.

“I’ve just had those numbers going for a couple of years I support,” he explained.

“I’ve been putting them on every Wednesday for at least two or three years.

“I had other numbers but decided a few years ago to change them to these ones and they were the right ones in the end.”

When asked how the winner planned to spend his lotto windfall he revealed he already had his eye on a plane ticket overseas.

“I love Thailand so I think I’ll head back there,” he said.

The happy winner, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased his System-10 marked entry from Chapman’s Newsagency.

Owner Lynette Martin OAM said she was thrilled to have sold a division one winning entry.

“It has been several years since we’ve sold a division one winning entry so we are very excited,” she exclaimed.

“We’ve sold a few over the years and even some larger prizes like division two but it’s nice to have sold another top prize.

“We are telling all of our customers we sold the winning entry and have decorated the store.

“We are so pleased it is a local to the area and a regular player.”
The six winning numbers in Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 3765 on May 16 were 25, 41, 32, 16, 6 and 11, while the supplementary numbers were 21 and 17.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 375 so far this financial year, including 33 won by SA Lotteries customers.
