WINDY conditions caused a light plane to miss the runway at Lucindale airfield on Saturday, coming to rest in scrub some distance from the airstrip.
At around noon, a pilot attempted to land when the light plane was hit by a crosswind, causing it to miss the runway by 50 metres.
The pilot – who was the sole occupant of the aircraft – walked away from the scene and attended the South East Field Days medical tent to be treated for minor bruising and shock.
South Australian Police and Lucindale and Avenue Range Country Fire Service volunteers were notified of the incident by medical staff at the South East Field Days and attended the scene.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and major crash investigators were also notified of the incident.
After being treated by medical staff, the pilot did not require any further observation.
