School leaders announced

LEADERS: Melaleuca Park Primary School Year 7 students Haylee and Rylen were announced as two of the school’s student leaders last week.

MELALEUCA Park Primary School newly appointed student leaders are ready to tackle their positions and become role models for the younger members of the school after being announced during a whole school assembly last week.

Proving they have what it takes to lead the school, the six Year 7 students Nikkita, Rylen, Haylee, Alicia, Tahlia and Alexis will serve as mentors for other students and assist with duties throughout the school.

Presented with their student leader badges by local Labor candidates Isabel and Clare Scriven during the assembly, the students also learnt how they can better lead the school throughout the year.

Nominating themselves for the positions, the students were required to submit a written piece explaining why they should be selected as a student leader before meeting with school leaders to discuss their plans for the school.

A stand-out during the meeting and final voting process, student Haylee said she was excited to be selected for the position.

“I was pretty excited when they read out my name,” she said.

“I like to help people and love public speaking and am looking forward to hearing people’s opinions on what to do at the school.”

Over the course of the year, the students will assist with school assemblies and social events.
