VISITING South Australian Police Commissioner Grant Stevens yesterday presented 10 long service awards to current and former Mount Gambier Police Station personnel.

On the second day of a two-day visit to the region, Comm Stevens told those attending the awards were held in high regard as they recognised the efforts of those men and women who have been serving their community with distinction.

“The South Australian Police maintains a very high standard and excellent reputation in the community and we should be proud of that,” he said.

“Some of us may wear uniforms and others are in civilian dress, but we come together as one organisation committed to police work.

“We have all been contributing to the same outcome for a significant period of time, which is the safety of the community.”

Comm Stevens said he was pleased the community had faith in the abilities of police and it was important for officers to continuously reinforce their positive reputation.

“I am pleased to present these awards today and am sure we will continue to uphold our high standard of service delivery,” he said.

During the presentation, three G20 citations were awarded, as well as two national police service medals, a clasp to the national medal, a clasp to the SAPOL Service Medal, a SAPOL Service Medal and a SAPOL service certificate.

In addition, a 20 year service medal was awarded under the administration service officer awards.
