Big Moo’s poos raise funds for charity

POOS FOR A GOOD CAUSE: A Big Moo Poo Day will be held on Australia Day to raise money for Mount Gambier Riding for the Disabled.

STANDING 190cm tall and weighing over one tonne, the South East’s Big Moo has quickly shot to fame for his whopping size and friendly nature.

Known as possibly Australia’s biggest steer, the lovable giant has attracted fans from across the world with a growing social media following.

However, what comes with a big steer is big poos and on Australia Day they will be put towards a good cause, raising money for Mount Gambier Riding for the Disabled.

For just $10 each, Big Moo’s fans will be able to purchase a square of his paddock and if he chooses to poo in that space they will go home with $100.

Gaining a strong following over the past couple of years through a Facebook page, owner Joanne Vine said it made sense to use his fame to raise money.

“He has had so many visitors over the holidays and many of them have wanted to pay to see him,” she said.

“That did not seem like the right thing to do, so instead we thought we’d hold a charity event and help those in the local community.”

As a horse lover herself, Ms Vine said the riding for the disabled group seemed like the perfect recipient.

“I know how therapeutic horses are and the Mount Gambier Riding for the Disabled group work really hard to provide their services,” she said.

“Plus Big Moo really loves horses too.”

The fun filled day, which has been titled Big Moo Poo Day, will also include cart rides with the Lowendale Clydsdales.

“It should be a really fun day for the whole family and a great way to celebrate Australia Day – it is a very Australian thing to do,” Ms Vine said.

“Big Moo is very friendly and I’m sure will enjoy lots of scratches during the day.”

Big Moo Poo Day will take place on January 26 from 10am to 2pm.
