A NEW drinking fountain has been installed at the Penola War Memorial Park providing a much needed public drinking facility for the town’s residents and visitors.

Wattle Range Council building maintenance officer David Davis said the SA Water facility’s water supply was triple filtered and complete with a UV filter tube to ensure quality.

Due to local resident and competitive scooter rider Nate Oakley using the town’s skate park facilities for up to eight hours a day, his father Brendon requested a drinking fountain be installed to provide a supply close to the park.

After it was requested in 2016, Wattle Range Council was able to provide funds following the 2017/18 budget.

“We are very happy the fountain is now available in close proximity to the park, and hopefully in the near future additional shade and chairs can be added,” Mr Oakley said.

Mr Davis said the fountain catered for those in Penola’s park who required drinking water, with an additional tap for filling water bottles or kettles.

“The fountain also offers a provision at the base of the fountain to provide water for a pet, and can be refreshed with fresh water at any time by the owner of the pet,” Mr Davis said.
