Buggy club banner auction raises funds for foundation

GENEROUS DONATION: Millicent motorsport identity Aaron Heemskerk presents a donation to Stand Like Stone Foundation chair Bill DeGaris following the success of the 2017 Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro.

THE Millicent Sand Buggy Club generously donated $500 to the Stand Like Stone Foundation, raised at the recent Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro presentation dinner.

ARB Millicent president Aaron Heemskerk said two banners were auctioned on the presentation night with the highest bidder electing a charity of their choice to donate the money to.

Stand Like Stone Foundation chair Bill DeGaris said they were grateful for the donation.

“It is fantastic to see community organisations supporting local charities,” Mr DeGaris said.

The fund provides financial support for students in the area making the transition to university in larger cities.

“Moving away from home to continue study can cause a lot of financial strain, so this fund assists with easing the cost and anyone is able to apply,” Mr DeGaris said.

The Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro event was held in September at Teagle’s Quarry on Mount Gambier Road outside Millicent.

The 400km off-road event started at Teagle’s Quarry with the route taking competitors through the pine forests.
