THE Penola community’s festive spirit is in full swing ahead of the town’s annual Christmas Street Party this Friday.

Friends and families will be able to enjoy Christmas treats, observe muscle cars and decorated bikes and listen to the sounds of traditional Scottish music.

The Penola and District Caledonian Pipe Band will continue its long tradition of entertaining the community at the event.

“We enjoy being involved in the annual street party and celebrating the festive event with the community,” Penola and District Caledonian Pipe Band president Neil McLean said.

The highly anticipated announcement of the winner of the creative Stuffed Santa competition will be also made at the event, organised by Koonara wines this year.

Penola Primary School principal Paul Harmer, Mary MacKillop Memorial School principal Maureen Hanrahan and Penola High School principal Ngaire Benfell will choose the most creative Santa.

“The judges will be looking for entries where people have really thought outside the box, humour is also a great draw card,” Koonara Wines’ Jen McCulloch said.

Penola and District Business and Tourism Association president Eleanor Burrow said the day will be a fun community event for all ages to enjoy.
