CAROLS: Reidy Park Primary School students get into the Christmas spirit at the Marketplace.

REIDY Park Primary School students brought a bit of Christmas cheer to the Mount Gambier Marketplace yesterday as they sung Christmas carols to a crowd of shoppers.

With bright smiles and Santa hats in tow, the small group of students from the school’s choir performed popular favourites including Silent Night and Jingle Bells.

Guiding the students during their 20 minute performance, music teacher Andrew Bone said it was great for the students to get out and involved with the community.

“The choir has sung at a number of different places around the city in the lead-up to Christmas and it was exciting to be out singing at the Marketplace for the first time this year,” he said.

“We have our carols by candlelight event coming up, which is always a lot of fun, so this was another opportunity for the choir to prepare for that.”

Happy to see the choir entertaining shoppers, Marketplace marketing coordinator Paula Creasey said their singing was enjoyed by many.

“It is great to have them here, injecting a bit of Christmas into the Marketplace and a chance for us to be more involved with the community,” she said.
