POLICE action will be sought by Wattle Range Council against the culprits responsible for the latest acts of vandalism at the Millicent Swimming Lake.
Council chief executive Ben Gower said a series of urgent repairs had to be undertaken to the safety fencing and gates since the facility was reopened in early November.
“It is extremely disappointing that a small antisocial group continues to vandalise this unique community asset,” Mr Gower said.
“This is the second occasion in a week where safety fencing has been damaged.
“The repair costs have been significant with over $1200 spent already this season.
“If any member of the public witnessed these events or see it happening again in the future, we ask that you immediately report it to the police.
“If the offenders are caught, council will seek to have those responsible charged.
“We are all very fortunate to have free access to such a wonderful asset like the swimming lake and we hope that this kind of behaviour stops immediately.”
