END OF AN ERA: Di Ind has stepped down as chairperson of Women in Business and Regional Development.

PROMINENT Mount Gambier woman Di Ind has stepped down from her role as chairperson of Women in Business and Regional Development.

Ms Ind said the decision to step down had not come lightly and told the group’s annual general meeting this month she was proud of unprecedented growth Women in Business and Regional Development had achieved.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such an inspirational and hardworking group of women,” she said.

Ms Ind has been chairperson of WIBRD since 2014, with membership and sponsorship increasing by 50pc year on year over this time, while a number of successful projects have also been implemented, including the hall of fame and entrepreneurial scholarship programs.

She will remain on the board for another two-year term to mentor the incoming management board, including new chairperson Cathy Lunnay.

The senior manager at Benson Radiology in Mount Gambier is also a director of the family owned business Naralilla Homes and previous deputy chair of WiBRD.

Ms Lunnay holds a number of voluntary positions in the community, including chair of the Reidy Park Primary School Governing Council.

Meanwhile, Salts of the Earth Mount Gambier franchise manager Cathy Beckman has been elected to the board.

The 2017 Influential Women in Business Awards Business Women of the Year has replaced Fiona Pulford, who announced her intention to not stand for another term earlier this year due to an increase in work and life commitments.

Ms Ind acknowledged Ms Pulford’s involvement in the network over the past two years, from hosting events to holding various positions on committees.

The current board consists of Ms Lunnay, Jacinta Jones, Lauren Milich, Tahlia Gabrielli, Judy McKay, Ms Beckman and Ms Ind.

Ms Jones was elected to the role of deputy chairperson and is the manager of BLH Building Group and has had a career covering various facets of business in a number of industries and roles such as human resources, training, sales and business management.

She is currently a board member for the Pioneers and on the Tenison Woods College Advisory Committee.

Ms Milich of Kirby Financial and Jupiter Limousines agreed to remain in the role of treasurer.
