Historical stamps on display

HISTORIC SHOW: Mount Gambier Philatelic Society president Neil Copping with some of the postcards of the city which will be on display this Sunday.

HISTORIC stamps will be on show for the community this Sunday as part of the Mount Gambier Philatelic Society Open Show.

“Members of the public are invited to observe an array of stamp displays,” Mount Gambier Philatelic Society president Neil Copping said.

On show will be a classic 100-year-old postcard collection and numerous other displays depicting the history of the city, including WWI and WWII exhibits.

“There will also be an interesting display on the development of the Glenburnie train line,” Mr Copping said.

The president said the event was a great way for those who have historic stamps or postcards and want to review their collection to find out more about their items and meet like-minded people.

“We are able to assist and guide those who are interested in stamps or are unsure as to what to do with with their collections,” he said.

The Philatelic Society is made up of 25 dedicated members and the event will be held at the Reidy Park Community Centre from 10am to 4pm with refreshments available.
