A MOUNT Gambier tradesman has vowed to never work weekends again after winning the Monday and Wednesday X Lotto division one prize of $1 million this month.
The man held one of the four division one winning entries in Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 3692 on September 4.
SA Lotteries officials initially struggled to contact the winner, who purchased his winning entry at Mount Gambier’s Rosaville Takeaway and Lotteries, until they were finally able to confirm the prize with the ecstatic local this week.
“That’s really exciting you know – it’s been a bit of a rough time lately, so it’s come at a perfect time,” the man said.
“Once this money is in the bank I may not have to work so much.
“I haven’t had many weekends off this year – that’s all been knocked on the head.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, explained he had been playing the same marked System 8 entry for many years.
In addition to winning $1 million, his entry also won division three 12 times and division four 15 times, bolstering his total prize to $1,010,099.50.
The windfall was aided by the Double Dollars Day promotion running when he won, which doubled the prize amounts for divisions two to six.
Now a newly-minted millionaire, the man is planning a more relaxed and enjoyable pace of life with his family.
“I’m not getting any younger so it’s time to sit back and enjoy life a bit,” he laughed.
Rosaville Takeaway and Lotteries owner Malcolm Domaschenz said the outlet was still celebrating selling another division one winning entry.
“It’s just fantastic – we’ve sold eight division one and top prizes during the past decade,” he said.
“We’re back in the winner’s circle with this one – we’re just a lucky shop.
“Congratulations to our customer, I hope they enjoy their million-dollar win.”
Across Australia there were four division one winning entries in Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 3692, including two from Queensland, one from South Australia and one from Western Australia.
Last financial year, there were 275 division one winning X Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $283 million.
