Fatal crash near Millicent

FATAL CRASH: Emergency services personnel were called to Mullins Corner, near Millicent, yesterday morning after a fatal motorcycle crash. 

A MOTORCYCLIST was killed near Millicent this morning.

At about 11am, police were called to the Princes Highway near Mullins Corner after reports a motorcyclist had crashed.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The rider, a 59-year-old man from the South East, was treated at the site of the collision by SA Ambulance Service paramedics, but died at the scene.

The collision scene was also attended by the Millicent brigade of the Country Fire Service and police from Millicent and the Limestone Coast Highway Patrol.

Police investigators from the Adelaide-based Major Crash Investigation Unit were due to arrive at the crash scene yesterday afternoon.

The heavy vehicle bypass known as Millicent Agricultural Bureau was closed to all traffic for several hours.

All vehicles were required to use Adelaide Road and Mount Burr Road.

The road toll for South Australia now stands at 66 and this compares to 53 at the same time last year.
