Stand against violence

SUPPORT: Star designer Rick Frost, SE Junction volunteer Annie Amoroso, SE Junction coordinator Nel Jans and Soroptomist secretary Tanya Reddie with stars created to send off for the One Million Stars to End Violence project.

The South East Junction and Soroptomist Mount Gambier have united to stand against domestic violence at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in the Gold Coast.

A banner filled with ribbons in the shape of stars created from groups and individuals across the nation will fly high at the event promoting the end to all forms of violence and demonstrate a more peaceful society.

The One Million Stars to End Violence project is an initiative to bring awareness to domestic violence and was created by founder Maryann Talia Pau.

The Mount Gambier Soroptomist group supplied the ribbon to design the stars while the South East Junction members and their families and friends helped to create the colourful stars.

Soroptomist International Mount Gambier is involved with raising money for diverse projects to provide a global voice to women and girls.

“Being part of this project is a great way to raise awareness in the community and to make a stance against a large issue such as this on such a public platform,” Soroptomist secretary Tanya Reddie said.
