AFTER moving to Adelaide at the age of 18 to pursue tertiary education, media sales consultant Tegan Pink returned to the Blue Lake city late 2017 to build a career in the region.

Tegan completed a bachelor of management majoring in marketing at UniSA, graduating in 2016, which then took her across the country to live in Sydney as an internal marketing officer with KFC.

Although she enjoyed her time in the city, Tegan knew she eventually wanted to return home, stating she missed the country lifestyle and community spirit.

“Living in Adelaide and Sydney was a fantastic experience where I met so many wonderful people, learnt a huge amount and gained many valuable skills,” she said.

“All of these I am able to utilise in my role at The Border Watch.

“I liaise with clients in north-western Mount Gambier, Millicent and surrounds in regards to any advertising needs to help them achieve their business objectives and I think my time away has helped me shape a better career here in the Limestone Coast.”

Tegan said it was not until she left that she truly appreciated all there was on offer in the South East.

“I quickly realised how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful region,” she said.

“I really like the fact that even though we are a city of a reasonably substantial size, we still have a small town feel and it is great to feel a part of the community.

“When I came home I wasn’t sure there would be a perfect marketing role here for me, but as soon as I noticed the position available at The Border Watch I knew it was meant to be.”

Now with the newsgroup for more than six months, Tegan has settled into the office well.

One of her favourite aspects of working for the business is how “iconic” it is to the region.

“The Border Watch is an iconic brand and business within Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast,” she said.

“Being able to get out and meet so many new and interesting people is one of the best things about my day to day job.

“It is great to be able to help local businesses and it’s really rewarding when their advertising campaigns make a difference.”

Team work also plays a huge role at the newsgroup and Tegan said this is something that encourages her to put her best foot forward every day.

“The team is very supportive and are always happy to help, which ensures everyone can exceed together individually and as an organisation,” she said.

“We are starting to work on some really innovative ideas and I am finding that it is such an exciting time to be a part of the TBW team, I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the company and the community as a whole.”

In Tegan’s free time, she enjoys being with her friends and family and traveling whenever she can.

“I love to spend a majority of time with my parents Bryan and Karen, my partner Michael and my closest friend and inspiration Alyce,” she said.

“I also love to travel and experience different cultures and histories.

“I also have a weird obsession with the computer game The Sims and love a lazy Sunday watching The Office.”
