FORMER South East musician Adam Page has again received recognition for his inspiring talent and dedication, winning the people’s choice accolade for jazz at the South Australian Music Awards.
The recipient had to have an album recorded between October 2017 and 2018 to be eligible.
“The process is really easy and I recently released my album Mono earlier this year,” Mr Page said.
“The public can vote online for the multiple categories available.
“You can nominate anyone to be considered, but I nominated my album myself.”
Mr Page received the award this month and was up against five other jazz acts.
From early years growing up in Mount Gambier and ongoing involvement in the city’s events, such as Generations in Jazz, Mr Page has forged a respected international career on the music scene.
“I have been playing jazz infused music for 25 years and was formally trained at the Elder Conservatorium of Music from 1997 until 2000,” he said.
“As jazz is an improvisation based art form, you can pretty much slot into any scenario if you have good ears.
“I was recently invited to play with Tim Finn from Split Enz and Crowded House.
“I had to make it sound like I had played with him for years.
“It was really fun and a great way to be thrust into playing with a musical icon.”
Mr Page has also won another two South Australian music awards and multiple Fringe festival awards around the world.
“I would like to thank my folks Dennis and Heather, who still live in Mount Gambier, for their support,” he said.
