Sisters blaze trail to Canberra

TRAILBLAZERS: Sisters Lucy and Kelli Williams will head to Canberra in February to attend an intensive five-day experience to empower young regional leaders.

SISTERS Lucy and Kelli Williams have been announced as two of the 16 brightest emerging leaders in regional Australia as part of Heywire’s 2018 Trailblazers program.

Kelli and Lucy will travel to Canberra in February to attend the Trailblazers Lab, an opportunity to share their story and build their professional network.

The driving force behind Teenage Trifecta, an interactive mental health workshop for teens and their parents, the sisters shared their story with The Pennant last week.

They said they were thrilled to be recognised as individuals passionate about strengthening their community.

“We will head to Canberra in February for the first sitting of parliament,” Kelli said.

“We will be there for a week, go to the first sitting, learn how to market our event and have the opportunity to network – essentially we will learn the necessary skills to get the Teenage Trifecta program out there.”

Both sisters said they hope to develop the program further and deliver Teenage Trifecta workshops in regional centres across the country.

“We will present at a seminar and explain what we do and hopefully meet some important contacts,” Lucy said.

“There are 16 people going to the Trailblazers Lab and they all have inspiring stories to tell and that is amazing in itself – they will all have great ideas.

“It is an awesome opportunity and we are really excited to see where it leads.”

The story behind Teenage Trifecta printed in last week’s edition of The Pennant prompted a warm response online.

Joanne Turley: “So proud of these brave, beautiful girls. Well done Lucy and Kelli for all you are doing.”

Carolyn Lambert: “Great work Lucy and Kelli, these stories do need to be talked about, well done girls.”

Tina Steinborner: “What amazing young ladies.”

Leanne Cameron: “So proud of you two.”
