NARACOORTE CATTLE

Tuesday January 25

Numbers more then doubled as agents yarded 565 head of liveweight and open auction cattle.

These sold to the usual array of trade and processor buyers along with feeder and restocker interest.

Quality was generally good this week with the market mainly remaining firm in price.

Vealer numbers were small as the steers reached a top of 540c, and the heifers 550c/kg.

Yearling steers to the trade ranged from 480c to 495c, with similar heifers making from 449c to 560c/kg.

Feeder orders operated here on steers from 416c to 570c, and on heifers from 434c to 540c/kg.

Restockers sourced steers to 556c, and heifers to 558c/kg.

Grown steers and bullocks made from 440c to 490c to the trade, as feeders were active from 440c to 460c/kg.

Grown heifers to the trade made from 430c to 470c, with feeder support from 460c to 470c//kg.

A single manufacturing steer returned 410c/kg.

Heavy weight cows attracted trade competition from 308c to 350c/kg to stay firm in price.

Feeders purchased all the light weight types from 288c to 328c/kg.

NARACOORTE SHEEP AND LAMB

Tuesday January 25

Numbers fell away again this week as agents yarded 1,460 lambs and 98 sheep to total a combined 1,558 head overall.

All sold to the usual field of trade and processor buyers with not all being active with the light number on offer.

Quality was very mixed this week with lambs with weight and condition being hard to find in a mixed market for price.

Light lambs to the trade ranged from $88 to $134 with light trade 2 and 3 score types making from $144 to $170/head.

Restockers operated as they turned lambs back out from $90 to $139/head.

Trade weight 3 score lambs made from $174 to $185 with the heavy pens making from $200 to $220 with a top of $234/head.

Hoggets made from $90 to $150 with light sheep making from $80 to $90/head.

Medium weighted sheep returned from $90 to $120 as the heavy lots ranged from $140 to $172/head.

Rams made from $50 to $85/head.

Heavy weight bulls made from 305c to 338c, while lighter types reached 528c/kg.

Average dollar per kilogram was $5.23 and average dollar per head was $2122.09.
