OUTGOING Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange manager Richard James officially retired last week after 41 years of service at the major selling centre.

Mr James started working at the saleyards in 1980 before taking over as manager in 1994.

Following a transitional period conducted over the past several weeks, incoming manager Rebecca Barry will lead the exchange moving forward.

As Mr James bids farewell to the saleyards, Ms Barry said he left an ongoing legacy.

“He’s very highly regarded in the livestock industry and has done a lot for the saleyards here. So I think recognising him and all of the hard work that he’s done is pretty important,” Ms Barry said.
