BROTHERS Mason and Bentley Galpin are “striving for the top” after being selected as the Penola Pastoral Agriculture and Horticulture Society show rural ambassadors for 2017.

Representing the Penola show, the pair will now go onto a regional final where they will compete against other ambassadors from across the state.

“We will compete against other rural ambassadors with the hope of being chosen to represent the region at the state finals,” Mason said.

“We are just pretty honoured to be representing Penola, however we are both striving for the top.”

The pair are following in their family’s footsteps after their sisters Kimberley and Aimee represented the show in 2008 and 2015.

“With our sisters doing it in past years, it means a lot to the family to work with the show society,” Mason said.

“It was something we both looked into and I guess you could say we wanted to follow in our family’s footsteps in a sense.”

Mason will act as the rural ambassador while Bentley will be the young ambassador for this year’s show.

In the role, they said their main focus will impact future generations.

“I think it is important to encourage the younger generations to get involved in the show again as it relies on the future generations to be sustainable,” Bentley said.

While inspiring others, they also hope to have an impact with the show society.

“Being an ambassador is a great way to get involved with the show and I hope to bring fresh ideas to the committee,” Bentley said.

Mason said they are hopeful their work will help the show continue to grow into the future.

“We would like to see the show keep on its feet for years to come,” Mason said.

“It’s been a massive success so far this year, our family has put on the heifer show for four years now and it went really well.”
