MOUNT Gambier singer and songwriter Anne Fraser may still be able to live out her dream of performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival this month.

Following increasing Covid-19 cases in New South Wales, Ms Fraser was unsure whether she would be able to perform at the popular event but now organisers are making changes to allow Covid-safe performances.

Ms Fraser said the restructure of the festival would greatly reduce infection risks by having performers play outside to restricted crowds.

“Due to the organisers restructuring and making the events more Covid-friendly, I am considering going again,” Ms Fraser said.

“The gigs that were cancelled have now been taken outside, rather than playing inside, and are a capped audience.

“If I am able to go, I am very excited because I have wanted to be a part of this festival for years.”

Despite the changes for smaller events, Ms Fraser said there were a number of larger events still being cancelled.

“I understand why because they were big ticketed events where there would have been hundreds of people,” she said.

“I am glad they are rethinking the event to make it safer and I am still hopeful I will be able to go.”

Only picking up a guitar in the past two years, the avid songwriter said she initially began her singing journey after growing up in a musical family.

“One day I sat down and wrote a poem because my mum was sick and then picked up a guitar and turned it into a song and haven’t stopped since,” Ms Fraser said.

“It was always there, it just needed to come out.”
