A FRESH album has been released by up and coming Mount Gambier musician, Dylan Leggett.

The cover album, released earlier this month, showcases Mr Leggett’s long-term love for pop-rock band Lemon Demons.

The songs have been transformed into a metal-genre by the local musician who has since received positive feedback.

Also in a number of local bands, Mr Leggett said he had been working on the album in between everyday life, live performances and band practice.

“The first 14 tracks on this album are all from an album called Spirit Phone which is my favourite Lemon Demon album,” Mr Leggett said.

“I covered the entire album because I loved the challenge of covering an entire album and I think it works so well as a whole.”

He said the album worked not just the track listing but also the transitions between each track and how the final track seamlessly connected back to the first.

“The last six tracks on my cover album are from other Lemon Demon albums and EPs,” he said.

“I picked those tracks because I felt I had something unique to say about them.”

As for his favourite cover, Mr Leggett said it was: “You’re at the Party”.

“This song has a very haunting and spooky sound to it, similar to something you would find in a Tim Burton film,” he said.

“Playing the song in a metal-style only ramps up those qualities and it is a very fun song to play and listen to.”

Labelling the completion of the album as a huge relief, Mr Leggett said he was also excited to hear the community’s reaction.

“So far I have been receiving positive feedback, mostly from fans of the band I covered, but also from people who have never heard of them before,” he said.

“I also have a friend who was not a fan of Lemon Demons and so I showed him one of my tracks and he said he really liked it which was great to hear.”

Playing the guitar since he was 12 and working on his vocals since 2016, Mr Leggett said he was pleased with the overall results.

The cover album is available on Bandcamp and YouTube with Mr Leggett working towards producing it on streaming services in the coming weeks.
