Pop Rock band back on stage

BACK ON STAGE: Suburban Henry has taken to the stage again following a four-month hiatus over the winter period.

MOUNT Gambier rock-pop band Suburban Henry has its next stage appearance in Robe on January 8 following several performances at Mount Gambier venues.

After taking a four-month hiatus during winter, the band was happy to get back into the swing of things for summer.

Suburban Henry drummer Tim Blackwell said it was fantastic to have the opportunity to be able to play again with the band securing a number of good shows.

“It is frustrating to have no dancing and the rest of the restrictions but there are venues in town which are very supportive,” Mr Blackwell said.

“The community response since we have been back has been pretty good and although restrictions make it a little hard, we have done a few outdoor shows which allow dancing and it is strange because it’s almost as if people forget they can dance sometimes and what it is like to dance.”

He said the band was looking forward to getting back to a sense of normality in 2022 and hoped for less restrictions.

“We really want people to be able to enjoy themselves without having to worry about restrictions,” Mr Blackwell said.

“We want people out and about and not worrying about what hoops they have to jump through to be able to do that.”

The band also encouraged community members to support venues hosting live music.

“These venues are still paying the bands to play and it has been a tough year for both the venues and the bands so it is great if they were all supported,” he said.

Suburban Henry will play at the Robe Hotel on January 8 then at Jen’s Hotel on January 14.

The band will also play at the Blue Lake Bar and Bistro on February 6.
