POPULAR DJ Caroline Tucker is keen to see Limestone Coast residents back on the dance floor once it is deemed safe to do so.

A sense of normality was restored for the musician when she returned back to the decks to provide live entertainment at Mac’s Hotel on the weekend.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing across the state over recent weeks, Ms Tucker mixed tunes in front of a crowd for the first time in over three months over Friday and Saturday.

Although the dancefloor was off limits, Ms Tucker appreciated performing to a crowd after weeks of live-streamed events from an empty restaurant.

Ms Tucker said she was overwhelmed when restrictions were first enforced as she lost entertaining, marketing and teaching work.

“I took the hit and decided I would do what I could, if I could not work on one thing then I would use that time to work on something else,” she said.

Part of drum and bass group V O E, Ms Tucker said during COVID-19 she spent much of her time mixing tunes, signing three international singles for a United Kingdom label.

She also helped kick-start Mac’s Hotel’s livestreamed online events.

“There are a lot of people out there who rely on some music or something social to keep them rolling,” she said.

“During the livestreams, we had people returning every week as well as new faces.”

With the Mac’s Hotel well supported over the Friday and Saturday and people adhering to strict rules, Ms Tucker said she was excited to performing again this weekend.

“I think people were missing human contact so it was nice to have that social aspect and others to talk to again I think,” she said.

“It is just something for people to look forward to and all it takes is for somebody to hear that one song for their whole day to turn around.”
