BUSINESS professionals from across the Limestone Coast are embracing a new digital platform to engage with the community and counteract government-imposed COVID-19 restrictions.
The brainchild of Hello Friday’s Ben Hood and Simone Kain, the live-streaming platform, hosted on social media under the Interact Limestone Coast banner – aims to continually build a sense of community spirit during the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
Branching off from the already established Shop Limestone Coast, another initiative established by Mr Hood and Ms Kain in response to the virus outbreak and subsequent impacts – Interact Limestone Coast has already attracted a diverse range of performers and business people to discuss their passions.
Mr Hood launched the platform with a live music performance, which has since been followed by a tutorial from Mount Gambier makeup artist Katie Fox and a session with Naracoorte life coach Mandy Curnow.
“Interact Limestone Coast was brought about in a way that we can support and foster a sense of community in an environment that we now have to share with social distancing and isolation,” Mr Hood said.
“Live streaming allows us to do that and promote the community and our amazing Limestone Coast people to speak about their passions and what they love to do in their business and personally.
“It also allows them to share their stories about anything and everything providing the opportunity for our community to connect on a real and meaningful level.”
Mr Hood said the format – which has already attracted thousands of viewers – encouraged participation with viewers able to pose questions and engage in discussion through the comments.
“It really just allows us to foster that community spirit here in the Limestone Coast and give people a reason to smile and engage with people all around the region,” he said.
