CHELSEA Manor will release its debut film clip in the coming weeks following a string of successful performances.

The three-piece indie-rock band made headlines around the Limestone Coast after its inaugural performance at Triple J’s Lucindale One Night Stand in September.

The gig had the young musicians take to the stage alongside Australian music icons Hilltop Hoods, Meg Mac, Ocean Alley and G-Flip.

Since the band’s debut, Chelsea Manor has performed in over a dozen shows across Melbourne, Adelaide and Mount Gambier.

With recording of its first EP complete and the filming of a video clip for the single Lotion wrapped up, the young band is preparing for the looming release.

Vocalist Bianca Hendy said the film clip – filmed at an Adelaide beach – was crucial for the band, describing the experience as comfortable and entertaining.

“Overall this film clip was just such a different experience for us all,” Ms Hendy said.

“We had a special effects artist who was awesome and it was so out of our comfort zone.

“It was the first time that we had really had to act in a way for a music clip.”

Filming took several hours with the band opening up to the experience as the day went on.

“We were there from around midday until early evening when we had to wrap it up because the tide was coming in,” she said.

“We are hoping that our entertainment of shooting the clip will transfer to screen because we were just so comfortable and the special effects were wicked.”

Ms Hendy said the new song was inspired by negative coping mechanisms, which would be reflected through the film clip

“In the clip we put lotion on at the beach and it slowly starts to rot our skin,” the vocalist said.

“The special effects really correlates with the song.”

The band will also release a new clip for its debut song Breathe, which scored them the gig at One Night Stand.

The clip will be released as part of the Mount Gambier Fringe with audience members able to immerse themselves in the clip using visual reality.

Chelsea Manor’s EP is expected to be released in the coming weeks with the Lotion film clip not far behind.

“We feel like we are moving in the right direction,” Ms Hendy said.

“We have big goals for us ahead including performing overseas.”

The EP will be available on CD, vinyl and digital streaming services.
