SONGS made famous from blockbuster films will be recreated in the Blue Lake city this weekend when the Mount Gambier City Concert Band takes the stage.
Featuring a high-quality 30-piece band of brass, wind and percussion musicians, the At The Movies show will offer something for everyone.
Directed by South East maestro Penny Mansell, the performance will showcase the music behind what makes movies exciting, scary, quirky and fun.
The program includes a range of movie themes with everything from contemporary to nostalgic.
The haunting sounds from The Hobbit and the swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean theme will transport the audience to a world of adventure.
For lovers of action movies, the band will showcase James Bond’s iconic sounds as well as thrilling tunes from Mission Impossible and Incredibles 2.
Guest vocalist Gajanan Frost is back from a successful appearance in Adelaide’s 2019 Cabaret Festival and will sing If I Cannot Love Her from Beauty and the Beast and The Writing’s on the Wall from the James Bond film The Spectre.
Senior dancers from the Maryke Dance Academy will dance to the catchy tune Singin’ in the Rain from the Gene Kelly movie.
The themed show will be held at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre on Saturday from 7.30pm.
Tickets are available at the theatre’s box-office or the Country Arts SA website.
