THE GLENCOE Woolshed has been envisioned as the South East’s next entertainment hub with a host of upcoming family-friendly community events scheduled at the historic site.

Creating a platform for South East emerging artists and acclaimed touring musicians, Palomino Nights will offer a night of entertainment for the community.

Debuting on Friday, Palomino Nights Sound Recorders owner and event organiser Tristen Bird said he hoped to grow the event into a reoccurring fixture on the last Friday of each month.

“The event is another way I am able help mentor artists while also giving them a chance to perform in front of a large audience,” he said.

“Each event will have a mixture of South East musicians and touring artists to provide opportunity for conversation.

“Upcoming musicians will be able to discover personal insight into the industry with acclaimed performers.”

Tristen said he planned to approach artists who he has worked with or others he knew were touring around the region.

“I wanted to bring people in if they were travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide or see if they could jump across the border from Western Victoria,” he said.

“The greatest spin off is the amazing events which will form and hopefully continue to grow.

“This space has not been used before for this so it is exciting for the community.”

BRINGING IT BACK: Palomino Nights Sound Recorders owner Tristen Bird is keen to see how this Friday’s Palomino Nights at the Glencoe Woolshed will debut on Friday night.

Tristen said the woolshed had a large venue capacity of 300 to 350 people.

“The National Trust are excited to see this building used for something community orientated which has minimal footprint on the place,” he said.

“I think we all walked in here and saw the vision straight away as it has this old by exciting American church feel.

“It will also draw people to the township and experience the history for themselves.”

The debut night has already attracted ticket sales from the Penola and Millicent districts, according to Tristan.

“It is an affordable option for people with ticket prices listed at $20 per person and Country Post & Bistro providing meals at $10 each as well as an alcoholic beverage bar,” he said.

“Even when we start moving up into those acclaimed artists, we will keep tickets around the $30-$34 mark.

“We hope to incorporate a diverse range of music genres and expanding into day festival during the summer season.”

Friday’s event will feature Western Australian act Keeley Connolly and Lilia as well as South East talent Fox Array.

The woolshed doors will open at 6.30pm on Friday with performances running from 7.30pm until 10pm.
