MUSICAL duo Cheap Sunnies rose to the challenge of performing at the Mount Gambier Show over the weekend.

Only 19 years of age, Bella Leane and Cameron Pritchard formed their ensemble while studying music at Grant High School.

Both taught by Aria award nominee music teacher Scott Maxwell, the two young performers have progressed from musicals at school to now gigs at public venues.

“It all started through recommendations by friends to play during community events such as Headspace celebrations,” band member Bella Leane said.

“It happened so fast with Periwinkles Café in Port MacDonnell our first proper gig recently.

“We have since grown the confidence to reach out to other places such as The Limestone Coast Pantry and Metro Bakery and Café.”

The rising stars are looking forward to their musical adventure over the upcoming summer period.

“We are hoping to showcase our performances at some outdoor shows when the nicer weather settles in,” Ms Leane said.

“We are looking forward to upcoming performances, including at Hollick in Coonawarra.”
