South East stars bust moves

STARS READY TO SHINE: Eight local personalities are ready to hit the dance floor at The Barn on Saturday night after weeks of rehearsals and fundraising for the annual Swinging with the Stars event.

STARS from across the Limestone Coast will bust fancy new moves on the dance floor at The Barn tonight for this year’s Swinging with the Stars.

Stand Like Stone’s annual fundraiser is an event not to be missed and promises glitter, glamour and a touch of unpredictability as a stellar line-up of personalities performs.

New recruit to the region Ben Deering, also known as “the tower guy”, will dance with Jacinta Cooper as he scales heights far greater than Centenary Tower in his quest for success.

Anna Hooper, the “Queen of Cape Jaffa”, will partner with Dylan Blacksell – she has swapped wine making for waltzing and has taken her lambada well beyond her living room.

From balance sheet to ballroom, Millicent accountant Steve Duldig, who will dance with Katherine Miller, has swapped his pen for pirouettes and has stepped well out of his comfort zone.

Penola Primary School teacher Nicole Lear will dance with Jayden Green – she has fine-tuned her foxtrot to raise funds for Stand Like Stone’s Penola Coonawarra Wellbeing sub-fund.

Grant High School’s Liam Goodfellow and dance partner Keana Soper will look to prove he can “dance badly for a good cause” as he raises funds for the Grant High School student scholarship.

From Frances to Robe and everywhere in between, Laura Hawkins has partnered with Cody Smith to prove she can swing.

Malseed’s maestro Alistair Coonan has upped his asking price with dance partner Rebecca Hann and will seek a genuine audience appraisal of their fancy footwork.

Presto’s Lucy Von Stanke will dance with James Brennan – she has stepped away from the frying pan and straight into the fire, dancing in front of a 500-strong audience at The Barn.

Hype Dance Studio has supported Swinging with the Stars for the fourth consecutive year.

Under the direction of principal Kim Cella and Paris Ackland, the group of local stars has flourished and the dancers are looking tremendous on the dance floor ahead of Saturday night’s event.

A small number of tickets are still available and can be purchased from Chapman’s Newsagency.
