THE Adelaide-based artist who commissioned to paint a large-scale mural in George Street was back in Millicent recently to undertake community workshops.

Mimby Jones Robinson taught stencil techniques and explored tips and hints for painting with spray cans.

Many of the participants bought along their own small canvas to paint.

One workshop was held for the local Girl Guides group teaching them new skills which they hope will lead to the painting of a mural on the Millicent scout hall.

The second workshop was for general community members who had registered an interest in being involved in local art workshops.

Participants were mostly from Millicent, but people from Robe and Mount Gambier also took part.

Ms Robinson expressed her thanks to all the “amazing” girls and women who attended.

“I had an absolute ball teaching tips and tricks with a spray can – they were all such naturals with the cans,” she said.

Imagine Millicent Arts Group spokesperson Caroline Hammat said the workshops went well with everyone enjoying themselves.

“Mimby is a colourful and warm personality and those that came along had a fun few hours,” she said.

The workshop finalises Ms Jones Robinson’s involvement with the former bank building mural project undertaken in April.
