New season to bring stylish new threads

CREATIVE: The Twisted Threads exhibition will take place this weekend at the Mount Gambier Library.

THE perfect Mother’s Day gift is hard to find but residents will have plenty of items to choose from this weekend at the Autumn Threads exhibition.

Local textile group Twisted Threads will sell fashion items and members’ unique creations in the annual event at the Mount Gambier Libary.

This will be the group’s eighth exhibition and is set to be held at the Mount Gambier Public Library from May 3 to 6.

As the exhibition coincides with the city’s Generations in Jazz Festival, the group is asking attendees to “jazz up” their wardrobe with their threads.

Last year’s exhibition was a huge success, attracting both local and interstate visitors who discovered some original items for their winter wardrobe and gifts for family and friends.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, the exhibition showcases an array of colours, textures and items both decorative and useful.

There will be something to suit broad tastes and budgets, from lacey shawls to colourful beanies and warm gloves.

This year’s exhibition will highlight the diverse range of local and creative talent in the area, including all fibre and textile-related crafts, crochet, knitting, embroidery, lace making, felting, weaving, quilting, up cycling and textile jewellery making.

Attendees will have the opportunity to buy a raffle ticket for their chance to win an original work or range of craft-related books, with profits going to the public library.

Twisted Threads welcomes new members of any skill level to join the regular Wednesday morning sessions at the Mount Gambier Library from 9.30am.
