STEP out of the living room and into the spotlight as part of an upcoming Mount Gambier Theatre Group performance.

The versatile and passionate group is seeking new members to cast in its upcoming production.

To complement the seating upgrades set to fill the Wehl Street Theatre this year, the group will celebrate the development through a performance on stage in May.

Group president Cathy Rochow encouraged people to try something new.

“We are seeking adventurous souls to join with us as we continue our ongoing commitment to the people of Mount Gambier,” she said.

“If you have attended any of our shows in recent years, or know of those who do come, it is a truly incredible experience for those in the audience and those on the stage.

“Becoming involved in community theatre can be a great way to develop your confidence and you can claim lifelong friends and associates.”

She said the group was in need of men and women aged between 18 and 50 for specific roles, but assured the group’s door was open to everyone.

“We were all learners once and we understand this, you should not be afraid because you are in good hands,” Ms Rochow said.

“The Mount Gambier Theatre Group has been a part of the Mount Gambier community for the past 65 years and we are planning to add another season in 2018.”

The group will host a meeting at the Wehl Street Theatre on Monday at 7.30pm with all welcome.

Following the meeting, the group will have its first script reading which will continue on Thursday, January 18, at 7.30pm.

Further casting will be held on January 29 and February 1.

The performance will be held in May with dates to be confirmed.
