CHRISTMAS came early for fans of Mount Gambier pop punk act The Skategoats recently when the band dropped a fresh EP on Soundcloud.

Titled What A Flop, the five-track EP features three brand new songs now available for free download on the band’s Triple J Unearthed webpage.

Fresh tracks Slimeball, Dammit Janet and It Gets Better join crowd favourites She’s Out of My League and Wasted on the EP.

The Skategoats is one of the city’s most active bands, constantly performing shows in Mount Gambier, major Australian cities and everywhere in between.

Band members Bianca Hendy, Michael Collins, Ivan Heenan and Malcolm Ferguson are often travelling to perform shows, record tracks in the studio or shoot music videos.

Obsessed with the ’90s era, the group enjoys putting its own twist on iconic tracks and wearing outrageous costumes on stage to provide audiences with a high-energy and memorable show.

The new release was recorded, mixed and mastered in Melbourne at Declan White Productions and Mount Gambier talent Tom Wilson also helped co-produce the EP.

It is clear the group has grown as a unit over the past 12 months with a tight finished product already gaining airplay on various radio stations across the country.

True to their punk, teenage angst, garage sound, The Skategoats have created an EP set to throw listeners back to post high school blues in true Freaky Friday style.

What A Flop’s eye-catching album artwork was created by Emetic Art and boasts a nostalgic early 1990s illustration style with Warheads sour candy flair.

Frontwoman Bianca is driven and motivated when it comes to supporting and promoting live music in the area.

In the past she has hosted a number of shows and events herself, but this year focused more on writing tracks for the band.

The band will officially launch the EP early next year, but for now the five tracks can be streamed on Soundcloud and Triple J Unearthed.
